Strong & Heard exists to teach children how to care for our people and our planet well.
We teach some of life’s most important lessons through our classroom resources, monthly newsletter and our very own incursion program ‘The Chocolate Story’. Strong & Heard lifts our children up to learn about the earth that sustains them and teaches them how to raise the voices of vulnerable communities around the world, particularly those that grow our food.

So, what is
The Chocolate Story?
The Chocolate Story is an educational program built on 5 unique workshops that all use chocolate to teach our children how to be kind to our people and our planet.
Students investigate the history and science of chocolate as well as how it can teach us how to be kind and fair to farming communities all over the world.
At Strong & Heard
we’re big on…
Citizenship & Culture
We love exploring new countries and finding out about their languages and cultures too. The Chocolate Story focuses on the rich history of South America and the impact of world explorers throughout the Age of Exploration, including the network of exchange between different people groups.
We love cultivating a love and respect for different people groups and ways of life around the world.
Health & Mindfulness
To us, good chocolate and refined sugar are two different things.
We use high-quality, ethical chocolate in all of our programs, with a high cacao and low sugar content. We source all of our other ingredients from local wholefood stores and choose organic when possible.
Our program encourages children to be mindful of what they eat and promotes healthy habits towards foods that we love to enjoy on occasion.
People & Planet
Social responsibility and its connection to the environment is more important than ever and is now playing a vital role in our National Curriculum and local classrooms. We show your students what sustainability in action really looks like, helping them to understand how they can play their part in ensuring that our people and our planet are strong and heard.
“We loved the hands on activities and the learning was fun because it was interesting. Students were so engaged! We loved everything about the incursion!”
Annabelle Coome, Grade 3/4 Teacher
““The day provided some fantastic curriculum links to our health unit but would also suit a school interested in finding out about the geographical and historical background of chocolate during the age of exploration.
Our students loved how hands-on the lollipop making session was and they were all talking about it for ages after!”
Siobhan Brooks, Learning & Pedagogy Support Leader
“Strong & Heard brilliantly uses chocolate as a powerful tool to educate children about social justice and sustainability, turning every bite into a lesson in ethical responsibility and global impact.”
David Greenwood-Haigh, Coeur de Xocolat
“The curriculum links to sustainability, history, economics and ethical values, makes this incursion very worthwhile.”
